My apologies for the extremely poor photograph. I don’t have the money to buy a good camera and I can’t upgrade my phone for a few more weeks. I’ve always wanted to get into photography and hope to find a good used camera one day soon. Until then, this is what you get! 🙂
Anyway, I was looking around the house today and I noticed that I have books everywhere. Several I’ve already started and a few I’ve barely even glanced at. The picture is actually all of the books that I plan to finish reading by the end of July. Looking at this picture, I also see that my reading tastes have changed a lot in the last few years in that I read a lot more Non-Fiction and Religious based material.
Here’s what I’m reading:
1) Let. It. Go. by Karen Ehman
2) The House that Love Built by Beth Wiseman
3) Tomorrow’s Garden by Amanda Cabot (Book 3 in the Texas Dreams series)
4) The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer
5) The Lean Belly Prescription by Travis Stork, M.D.
6) Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
I started reading just about everything I could get on devotionals and becoming a better Christian when I started taking my walk seriously. I’m also trying to improve upon the person that I am professionally and physically. (Which would account for The Lean Belly Prescription. That’s one that I’ve barely touched. Whoops!) Not sure if you noticed, but I only own one of those books. I’m a pretty frequent visitor at my local library.
I’m sure my list will grow considering I’m always seeing book reviews on Facebook and I constantly browse the new book display at the library. I may have too many books and not enough time, but I think that’s a pretty good problem to have!

I absolutely love Proverbs 31 and the women associated with the ministry. One of those women is Lysa TerKeurst. Today, she has a replay of the Women of Faith webcast. I missed it when it was live the other night so I’m really excited to be able to listen to an hour of powerful Christian women speak. I hope to get to go to a conference one of these days, but that will be when the budget actually allows for travel. (Sweet, kid-free, mommy time.) So go check out Lysa’s site to see a replay.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Hey y’all! Welcome to the first ever edition of Thankful Thursday on Education of an Oilfield Wife!
I decided to do this because it is so easy to get lost in the worries and troubles of our lives. I know that I let myself get bogged down in things that are out of my control. It can sometimes be hard to let those troubles and worries go and let the Lord take over. I’ve personally been working on that and while I’m not a pro at it yet, I’m definitely getting better.
Today, I am thankful for having just enough. While I may not be able to go out and buy things that I want for myself, the kids, the Hubby, or the house, at least our bills are paid and there is food in the cabinets. I’ve been trying for so long to fix everything on my own, and it just doesn’t work that way. I’m a bit of a control freak so this has been kind of hard for me to work on.
Lord, thank you for giving us just enough to be comfortable. I know I can’t do everything on my own and that I must fully rely on you. Please forgive me when I backslide and let worry consume me. Please help me to be content with what we already have instead of focusing on the things that we do not have. Help me to cherish family and memories and not material things. Amen.
What are you thankful for? Comment below or send me a tweet @Ofwjaimie
Happy Thursday, y’all!
Welcome to my new and improved blog! If you are new to Education of an Oilfield Wife, you can get caught up on my old posts over at blogger. I’m currently working to get my blogger posts moved over, but that could be a while. I’m excited to get the ball rolling on what I feel God is calling me to do and that is blogging about my faith and my life as an oilfield wife. Something that I want to start is “Thankful Thursday” and I’ll get started with it tomorrow. So tune in and share what you are thankful for with me!
